Materials in organic and metallic foam
■ This survey provides an outline of recent developments in the field of foam materials. The different types of foam handled are: polymer and composite foams (polystyrene and styrenics, PVC, polyurethane, phenolic, silicones, polyolefins, other thermoplastics and thermosettings, rubber and elastomer thermoplastics, etc.), metallic and mineral foams. The different associated processes are also reviewed. For each family of foam, recent developments and industrial applications are identified and analysed. Examples of production and the specificities of the main industrial sectors (automobile and transport, household equipment, packaging, chemistry, health, clothing and shoes, sports and leisure, etc.) are given throughout the survey. The survey contains a number of references of material suppliers and transformation material suppliers, specialised sub-contractors and research laboratories and centres.
